This image has an empty alt attributeThe Accreditation Review Council on Education In Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) is pleased to welcome Crystal Warner, CST, CSA, FAST, as Education Manager. In this role, Warner is responsible for developing resources to support educators; and, managing outreach and communication activities for the ARC/STSA and EdAccred.

Warner has held many roles relating to surgical technology and surgical assisting. During her career in surgical technology education, she served as an instructor, clinical coordinator, program director, and academic dean. She has volunteered as a member of the NBSTSA Item Writing Committee, NBSTSA Job Task Analysis Committee, NBSTSA Practice Examination Review Committee, AST CE Review Committee, and ASA Surgical Assistant Core Curriculum Revision Committee. She is currently finishing her term as the president of the Alabama State Assembly, where she also served as vice president for four years.

With more than 10 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist and  Certified Surgical Assistant, Warner has worked in a Level I trauma center, as a traveling surgical technologist and surgical assistant,  as an independent practitioner; and most recently, as part of a surgical assisting group. Warner specialized in orthopedic trauma and robotic procedures.

Warner earned an Associate in Applied Science in surgical technology from Miami-Jacobs Career College, where she graduated with honors; and, a certificate in surgical assisting from Madisonville Community College. Warner is in the process of completing her bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership at Columbia Southern University.

The ARC/STSA is a private, not-for-profit Committee on Accreditation that in conjunction with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredits surgical technology and surgical assisting programs throughout the United States. The ARC/STSA is sponsored by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists.

Education Accreditation & Resources, LLC, (EdAccred) is an initiative of the ARC/STSA scheduled to launch in the summer of 2020.  EdAccred’s mission is to provide education and accreditation services to communities of interest to support educators and enhance the excellence of educational programs, thereby advancing the professions and ensuring quality patient care.
