At the Accreditation Fundamentals for Educators [AFE] Workshop, offered from 8:00am – 3:00pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 (the day before the 2016 AST National Conference and Instructor’s Workshop in San Diego, California), the ARC/STSA will guide you through CAAHEP’s accreditation Standards and Guidelines and the accreditation process to enhance your accreditation knowledge, permitting your program to optimize the benefits of this prestigious accreditation.

Through the use of expert presentations and interactive group and individual learning activities, this workshop will both explain the ins and outs of the current CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines and clarify the information in the ARC/STSA Standards Interpretive Guides applicable to your surgical technology or surgical assisting program.

The AFE Workshop is designed for both new and seasoned program directors, but instructors, deans, and compliance officers will also benefit from attendance at and participation in this workshop.

Later the same day, from 3:00pm – 5:00pm, the ARC/STSA offers the Site Visitor Training Beginning [SVT-B] Workshop for individuals interested in becoming an ARC/STSA-approved On-Site Evaluator. Please note that participation in the Site Visitor Training Beginning Workshop requires pre-requisite completion of the CAAHEP Site Visitors Quiz – available online at www.caahep.org, and recent attendance at an ARC/STSA AFE Workshop.

The May 2016 AFE Registration form, with the applicable registration fee, should be submitted to the ARC/STSA to register for these pre-conference workshops. A separate registration form for the AST Instructor’s Workshop and/or AST National Conference can be found at www.ast.org.
