In the last month, our programs and institutions have faced unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 public health crisis. Our educators have worked tirelessly to continue to teach courses and serve students as their physical campuses close across the Nation. Despite these extraordinary circumstances, it has been inspiring to watch our educators face these challenges with fortitude and to see our community rally together. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your perseverance, ability to adapt, and your commitment to your students and communities.

Please know the ARC/STSA is here to support you as you work through this public health crisis and beyond. We will continue to closely monitor reports on the coronavirus and its impact on our surgical technology and surgical assisting programs, and pledge to stay in communication as information is available. You can read the ARC/STSA COVID-19 Statements issued thus far on our website, as well as access a newly compiled list of online learning resources to support instructors and students alike.

Additionally, the content in the current issue of the newsletter was specifically created to share resources to further support you during these unprecedented times. Within this issue, you’ll hear from fellow educators on how they helped their institution transition to online coursework, tools they are using to keep students engaged, and a reflection on the power of self-care (something we all need now, more than ever). We are stronger as a community when we share our experiences. We hope these peer-driven perspectives assist your programs.

The ARC/STSA community – our board members, volunteers, staff and your fellow educators – are here for you, and together we will get through this. As always, if I may be of service, please reach out to me at ron.kruzel@arcstsa.net.

Stay well, be strong and Aeger Primo!
