Sample Program Effectiveness Plan Form

The Sample Program Effectiveness Plan Form is designed to assist programs in developing a comprehensive program assessment plan that includes assessment of program goals, all program resources (Standard III.) and all ARC/STSA-required program outcomes (retention, approved outcomes assessment exam participation rate and pass rate, graduate placement, employer survey return rate and satisfaction rate, and graduate survey return rate and satisfaction rate). Under Standard II.B., programs are required to demonstrate that the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) assesses program goals, resources, outcomes, and needs on at least an annual basis (once every 12 months).

Additional assessment topics may be required by your institution, institutional accreditor, and/or state approval agency (if applicable).

A copy of this sample form is also found in the 2012 Standard Interpretive Guide (SIG-ST).

Programs are not required to use this form.

2012 Standards Interpretive Guide (SIG-ST)

The Standards Interpretive Guide – ST (SIG-ST) has been revised and expanded for 2012 to better assist surgical technology programs in understanding and maintaining compliance with CAAHEP Standards. Revised clarification of information, updated and expanded examples, and new addenda are included, based on commonly asked questions from our CAAHEP-accredited programs.

The ARC/STSA Program Personnel Report Form – SA (PPF-SA) has been revised to better assist surgical assisting programs in reporting personnel changes, including changes in program director, dean (or comparable appointment), president (or comparable appointment), medical director or core surgical assisting instructors. The PPF is one of several forms required for submission in support of new faculty appointments. Checkout this updated form!

Revised 2012 Annual Report

As we enter into 2012, we begin a new annual reporting year with a newly revised 2012 Annual Report. The 2012 Annual Report will be accessed and submitted online using the “E-Report Login” link at www.arcstsa.org/index.php/educators/educators-surgical-technology/st-reports. The 2012 Annual Report can be accessed online beginning February 1, 2012.

2012 Announcements for Program Directors

The program should have received a CD with the 2012 Annual Report documents indicated above. Programs are welcomed to upload and/or print all of the 2012 Annual Report documents.

Please note that the newly revised and expanded 2012 Standards Interpretive Guide–Surgical Technology (ST-SIG) will be available online at www.arcstsa.org/index.php/educators/educators-surgical-technology/st-arcstsa-documents on or before February 1, 2012.

Programs will no longer need to submit a separate Annual Report CST Addendum—CST Exam results are reported within the 2012 E-Report.

All program passwords for the 2012 Annual Report (AR) have been changed by the ARC/STSA. The program’s ID and new password are provided in the 2012 AR Letter sent via email to program directors and administrators. Passwords cannot be changed until after all programs have submitted the 2012 AR. Please contact the ARC/STSA at ARQuestions@arcstsa.org for a copy of the 2012 AR letter for your specific program, if applicable.

The 2012 Annual Report Information Receipt Document, sent via email to each program director and administrator, must be received at the ARC/STSA office no later than February 17, 2012. Please contact the ARC/STSA at ARQuestions@arcstsa.org for a copy of the 2012 AR Information Receipt Document for your specific program, if applicable.

The 2012 Annual Report must be submitted no later than May 1, 2012.

2012 Scholarship Program Announced

The Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) is pleased to announce the launch of our 2012 Scholarship Program in service to the surgical technology and surgical assisting student and educator communities.

Annually since 2005, the ARC/STSA Board of Directors awards multiple scholarships of up to $1000 in at least two separate categories. In 2011, the ARC/STSA awarded $3000 in scholarships to 4 students and 1 educator.

For our 40th anniversary, the 2012 Scholarship fund is increased to $4000 combined total for all student awards and $1000 total for educator awards.

2012 Scholarship Categories:

Application forms detailing eligibility requirements for each of the scholarship categories can be obtained by clicking on the links above.

Applications must be filled out completely, include required support materials and be received at ARC/STSA offices on or before the deadline.

All eligible applicants are encouraged to apply. The deadline for receipt of all scholarship applications and supporting documentation is February 27, 2012.

Scholarship recipients will be announced at the 2012 AST National Conference and will post online at www.arcstsa.org by June 15, 2012.

Office Closure Dates

ARC/STSA offices will be closed on the dates noted below in observance of national holidays. Accreditation services and assistance will resume on the next business day during regular office hours.
