T. Van Bates, BA, CST
President

Denver CO October 15, 2015 – At the September annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting [ARC/STSA], Keith R. Orloff, CST, FAST, announced that after serving as the organization’s longest-standing Executive Director he will retire in the Summer of 2016.

During Keith’s tenure the ARC/STSA saw a major branding and identity change, celebrated its 40th anniversary, grew to serve over 470 accredited Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting programs, became the second largest Committee on Accreditation in the CAAHEP system, and initiated a major streamlining initiative to benefit all communities of interest. The Board recognized that Keith’s work at the ARC/STSA has been instrumental in moving the organization into a leadership position in allied health accreditation. The ARC/STSA has benefitted from Keith’s professionalism, integrity, and rich experience which has shaped the organization for the better by his knowledge in specialized programmatic accreditation, higher education and both professions we serve. It is clear that he will be missed.

With that mind, President Van Bates and the ARC/STSA Board of Directors have appointed a search committee and initiated a thorough and exhaustive process to identify a suitable candidate to succeed Keith by the time he leaves the office of Executive Director next year.

Qualified applicants are invited to apply; please see requirements in the ED Search Announcement at ED Search. For any additional questions, please contact Kathy Snyder, BA, CST, FAST, Search Committee Chairperson at searchcommittee@arcstsa.net.
